Brandon Adams

Game Theorist
Adams taught undergrad economics courses at Harvard for nine years in game theory, behavioral finance, and international macroeconomics. He has taught sports analytics to undergraduates and graduate students at the University of Miami for three years. He is the author of multiple books, and he was the lead research assistant for Michael Lewis’ "The Big Short." He enjoys fantasy sports, and for six years he ran a company (Advanced Sports Analytics) that projected box scores for MLB, NBA, and NFL. A longtime poker player, he's been a regular in the biggest cash games and tournaments for two decades.

Carlos Bustamante, Ph.D.

Geneticist, CEO GalateaBio
Bustamante is a population geneticist and Professor of Biomedical Data Science and Genetics at Stanford University. He is also the Founding Director of the Stanford Center for Computational, Evolutionary, and Human Genomics (CEHG). Professor Bustamante also sits on a number of editorial and advisory boards and recently served on the National Advisory Council for Human Genome Research. He has received several prestigious awards, including being named a MacArthur Fellow – commonly referred to as the “Genius Grant”- in 2010.
Walter O'Leary

Walter O’Leary

Venture capital and investment banking
Walter’s experience in early-stage investing in Quantum + A.I., cybersecurity, machine learning, blockchain technology, fintech, coupled with his experience working in capital markets in Wall Street and The City (London) has been of particular benefit to UM students aspiring to have an advantage in the market relative to their peers after they graduate. Whether students are interested in the public markets or the private markets, Walter believes that there is no substitute for real-world experience. He is constantly striving to help bridge the real world with academia and help place students in internships that lead to full-time job offers. In 2023, Walter mentored students in the Bloomberg Global Trading Challenge where two UM student teams ranked in the top 10% out of 2,007 teams. Walter has also supervised a dozen student volunteers at the annual Florida Venture Capital Conference which has featured over 800 startups that raised a combined +$16 billion.
