Interdisciplinary Research

Global Operations

The Global Operations Research Cluster is an interdisciplinary initiative designed to encourage, foster, and promote discussion and research on global operations. Global operations can be studied from a very macro level (e.g., international trade, economic integration, geopolitics, country endowments) to a very micro level (e.g., sourcing and procurement, production, distribution, pricing and inventory management, service operations, leadership, culture, or behavior of teams, employees, and consumers). It is multidisciplinary in scope and interdisciplinary in content, encompassing research of faculty from virtually all the departments.

Members of the cluster include faculty and Ph.D. students specializing in management, management science, business technology, finance, marketing, etc. Activities of the cluster include organizing seminars, hosting distinguished scholars in residence, and fostering an environment that encourages discussions and collaborations across different disciplines. Overall, the cluster aims to facilitate research and other scholarly activities involving global operations both within the school, as well as with other University of Miami schools and colleges, and with other universities.
