Curriculum and Structure – PhD In Operations Management

The PhD in Operations Management at Miami Herbert unfolds as an integrated program of advanced study and research. Applicants should have an adequate academic background, personal maturity, and the ability to meet the program's high level of demand for initiative and scholarship.

Being a student in the Operations Management PhD program means a commitment to full-time and in-residence study.

All students in the PhD in Business program complete a core curriculum.


A typical student in the Operations Management subarea would take the following core courses in Year 1: 

  • Microeconomics
  • Optimization Models
  • Dynamic Optimization
  • Statistical Methods I and II

In addition, students would be expected to take classes in Game Theory, Stochastic Processes, and other Operations Management courses in Supply Chain Management and Inventory Management.
